Meet with climbing arborists or groundworkers to determine deficiencies in tooling or heavy equipment resources; discuss potential engineering solutions.
Where engineering solutions are impractical, suggest administrative controls or in extreme cases personal protective equipment controls.
Visit worksites to observe existing technology (forestry implements) working, visit worksites to observe Vertical Forestry’s forestry implements and prototypes working, interview operators and end users to obtain product feedback, carry out iterative design work as it relates to strength & durability (finite element analysis, or FEA), manufacturability, and functionality of the end product.
Select materials, methods of manufacture, and talk with vendors to optimize designs from the standpoint of cost and quality.
Create final drawings of assemblies, sub-assemblies, and draft parts lists. Work with production staff to optimize the design process.
